You have three options for the caller ID settings:

  • PBX determines the caller ID (CLIP no screening)
  • Fixed phone number is used
  • Caller ID should be anonymized

We explain the three modes in detail below.

1. PBX determines the caller ID (CLIP no screening)

This setting is useful if you use a telephone system that manages all phone numbers and extensions. Rules are then defined for outgoing calls as to which information is signaled to the called party in which situation. Thanks to CLIP no screening, the telephone system can transmit any of your phone numbers with or without extension. You can also signal numbers that are not (yet) with easybell (as long as you have the rights to use them).

The phone number to be transmitted is not transmitted by all telephone systems at the same point in the SIP header. But with easybell you are flexible! You can specify for each SIP trunk in which field of the SIP header your telephone system transmits the caller ID.

You can choose from the following:

  • From-Display (default setting)
  • Remote-Party-ID
  • Preferred-Identity Asserted-Identity

If you are unsure, please contact the person responsible for administration or contact the manufacturer of the system.

2. fixed phone number is used

In this mode, the same phone number is signaled for every outgoing call. This setting is therefore more suitable if you are using the SIP trunk on only one IP telephone, for example.

If you have assigned several phone numbers to the SIP trunk, you can select which phone number should be displayed to called parties.

3. caller ID should be anonymized

You can also generally prevent the number from being displayed. Please note, however, that most VoIP-capable end devices and telephone systems offer the option of case-by-case number suppression. This allows you to flexibly set on the telephone whether you want to anonymize the phone number.

Note on the phone number display:

Your own easybell phone number is displayed as additional information on devices equipped for this purpose. This means that you can be clearly identified by the police, call centers and emergency services.
